Platform Terms

Updated July 17, 2026

The rules for everyone using Sokko — buyers, sellers, riders, and our own team. What you can expect from us, and what we expect from you.

  • You keep your own duka and set your own prices. We run the checkout, hold the buyer’s payment safely, and pay you out.
  • You are responsible for what you list — that it is legal, real, in stock, and honestly described.
  • We can hold or reverse a payout while an order is disputed, refunded, or being checked for fraud.

1. Who this covers

Sokko is run by Odd Republic Limited, a company registered in Kenya. Where these terms say “we”, “us”, or “Sokko”, they mean Odd Republic Limited. Our registered address is Hazina Complex, Kabiti Road, Starehe, Nairobi, and you can write to us at P.O. Box 122–00100, Nairobi or email hi@sokko.ke.

These terms apply the moment you use Sokko — whether you open a duka, place an order, accept an invite, pay at checkout, or manage a delivery. Using the platform means you accept them, and the policies they link to.

What you can do depends on who you are. Buyers browse, pay, track orders, and ask for help. Sellers run their duka: products, collections, promotions, delivery settings, messages, and payouts. Riders, operators, and admins only get the tools assigned to them.

Your details must be accurate — your name, contact, business, tax, and payout information. We may ask you to verify who you are before you can sell, offer installments, list in higher-risk categories, or take a payout.

2. What we do

Sokko gives you a duka, a product catalog, a cart and checkout, order tracking, messaging with your customers, delivery tools, sales reports, and promotions. We hold each buyer’s payment safely until they get their order, then pay you.

For products sold by other sellers, we are not the seller. The seller owns the goods, the price, the stock, the delivery promise, the warranty, and the after-sale support. If that is ever different, we say so in writing.

We may change, pause, replace, or retire a feature when we need to — for security, reliability, the law, or the quality of the platform.

3. If you sell here

List only what is legal, real, in stock, and honestly described. Your photos, claims, prices, variants, stock counts, delivery zones, pickup points, and return terms must be true and current.

Honour the orders you accept. Keep the delivery status accurate, reply to your customers and to us, and send the evidence we ask for when an order is disputed, refunded, or being checked for fraud.

Selling here means letting us enforce these rules on your duka. That can mean removing a listing, pausing a promotion, turning off checkout, refunding a buyer, holding your money, deducting what you owe, or suspending your account.

4. If you buy here

Give accurate details at checkout — your name, contact, delivery or pickup point, and payment information. Do not abuse promotions, refunds, order tracking, seller messages, or support.

Where a seller offers an installment plan, it may need you to sign in and pass an eligibility check. Missed payments, reversals, or suspected fraud can limit how you are allowed to pay next time.

Check your order before you pay, and raise any problem through order tracking or your account as soon as you notice it.

5. Money, refunds, and payout holds

Payments run through third-party providers. How quickly they authorise, settle, confirm, or reverse a payment affects when your order updates and when you get paid.

We can delay or refuse a payout while an order is waiting on delivery evidence, buyer confirmation, a refund, a dispute, a chargeback, a fraud check, or a compliance check.

Refunds, reversals, chargebacks, failed deliveries, cancellations, credits, platform fees, taxes, penalties, and any negative balance can be deducted from what we pay you now or later.

6. Fees

Our standard platform fee is 5% per order line, capped at KES 2,000 per line. Approved alternative rates may apply as shown on the Pricing page or agreed with you in writing, but the same per-line ceiling applies. Subscription prices for Growth and Scale are on the Plans page.

Payment providers, delivery partners, and promotions can carry their own charges. Those are separate from our platform fee.

Once we have provided the service or processed the transaction, the fee is not refundable — unless a written agreement says it is.

We may set limits: eligibility rules, transaction caps, promotion rules, category restrictions, payout thresholds, and risk reserves.

7. Your content and our messages

You keep your content. You give us permission to host, copy, process, show, translate, adapt, distribute, and analyse it so we can run, secure, improve, and market the platform.

We will send you messages about your orders, payouts, deliveries, security, support, and these policies — by email, SMS, in-app notification, or another channel you have set up.

Do not upload anything misleading, infringing, abusive, illegal, harmful, privacy-invasive, or built to get around our controls.

8. When we step in

We investigate suspected fraud, payment abuse, unsafe or counterfeit products, manipulation, security incidents, delivery failures, shared accounts, and misuse of our tools.

We can remove content, restrict features, cancel orders, refund buyers, hold money, ask for more verification, suspend an account, close a duka, or report activity to payment providers, delivery partners, regulators, or the police.

We do not owe compensation for losses caused by enforcement we carried out in good faith to protect buyers, sellers, partners, the platform, or the public.

9. Limits of our responsibility

The platform is provided as-is and as-available. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, error-free operation, that every payment will go through, a certain number of sales, a delivery time, installment approval, or a payout date.

As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profit, lost revenue, lost data, goodwill, or business interruption.

As far as the law allows, our total liability for a claim is limited to the fees you paid Sokko for the affected transaction or service in the three months before the claim arose.

10. Changes and questions

We may update these terms by posting a new version or telling you directly. If you keep using Sokko after an update, you accept the new version.

If you have a signed agreement with us that says something different, that agreement wins — but only for the people and the scope it covers.

If anything here is unclear, ask us before it matters. Our contact details are at the bottom of this page.
