Terms of Service

Platform Terms

Updated May 8, 2026

These terms govern buyer, seller, rider, and operator use of sokko storefronts, checkout, installment, fulfillment, messaging, analytics, and payout tools.

  • sokko provides commerce infrastructure and may enforce policies to protect the marketplace.
  • Sellers remain responsible for their listings, fulfillment promises, product legality, taxes, and customer commitments.
  • The platform may hold, reverse, offset, delay, or refuse payouts when risk, disputes, refunds, fraud, or policy violations are present.

1. Agreement and account scope

By accessing sokko, creating a storefront, placing an order, accepting an invite, using checkout, or managing fulfillment, you agree to these terms and any policy referenced by them.

Different features apply to different actors. Buyers can browse, pay, track, request support, and manage account activity. Sellers can operate storefronts, products, collections, promotions, fulfillment settings, messages, and payouts. Operators, riders, and administrators can access only the tools assigned to them.

You must provide accurate account, contact, identity, tax, payment, payout, and business information. We may require verification before enabling selling, installments, higher-risk categories, fulfillment tools, or payout release.

2. What sokko provides

sokko provides hosted storefronts, product catalog tools, cart and checkout flows, payment and installment orchestration, order tracking, customer and seller messaging, fulfillment workflows, analytics, promotion tools, and escrow-aware payout operations.

Except where we expressly state otherwise, sokko is not the seller of record for third-party storefront products. The seller is responsible for the goods, content, price, availability, shipping promise, warranty, and after-sale support for its storefront.

We may update, suspend, limit, replace, or discontinue any feature when needed for security, reliability, compliance, commercial operations, or platform quality.

3. Seller obligations

Sellers must list only lawful, authentic, available, and accurately described items. Product media, claims, pricing, variants, inventory, delivery zones, pickup locations, and return expectations must be truthful and current.

Sellers must honor confirmed orders, respond to customer and platform requests, keep fulfillment status accurate, and provide evidence requested for release verification, disputes, refunds, fraud checks, or support reviews.

Sellers authorize sokko to enforce platform policy on their storefront, including delisting items, pausing promotions, limiting collections, disabling checkout, refunding buyers, holding funds, offsetting balances, or suspending access.

4. Buyer obligations

Buyers must provide accurate checkout, contact, delivery, pickup, identity, and payment information. Buyers must not abuse promotions, payment flows, refund processes, order tracking, seller messaging, or support channels.

Installment and Lipa Mdogo Mdogo features may require authentication, eligibility checks, payment posture review, and ongoing account controls. Missed payments, reversals, suspected fraud, or misuse may limit future checkout options.

A buyer is responsible for inspecting order details before payment and for promptly raising support issues through the available order tracking or account tools.

5. Payments, installments, refunds, and payout holds

Payments may be processed by third-party payment providers. Payment authorization, settlement, callback timing, reversal handling, fees, and provider availability can affect order state and payout timing.

sokko may delay or deny seller payout release while an order is pending verification, fulfillment evidence, customer acceptance, refund review, dispute review, chargeback review, fraud screening, risk review, or compliance review.

Refunds, reversals, chargebacks, failed deliveries, cancellations, customer credits, platform fees, taxes, penalties, and negative balances may be deducted from current or future seller payouts.

6. Platform fees and commercial controls

sokko may charge platform, payment, fulfillment, promotion, subscription, commission, financing, recovery, support, or operational fees. The current standard platform fee is published on the Pricing page and is currently 5% unless a separate written agreement applies.

Unless a written agreement says otherwise, fees are non-refundable once the corresponding platform service has been provided or the related transaction has been processed.

We may set eligibility limits, transaction caps, promotion rules, seller-scoped pricing controls, category restrictions, settlement thresholds, and risk reserves.

7. Content, data, and communications

You grant sokko a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, copy, process, display, translate, adapt, distribute, and analyze content you submit so we can operate, market, secure, and improve the platform.

We may send transactional, operational, security, support, policy, payout, fulfillment, and service messages by email, SMS, in-app notification, webhook, or other configured channels.

You must not upload content that is misleading, infringing, abusive, harmful, illegal, privacy-invasive, or designed to bypass marketplace controls.

8. Enforcement and suspension

We may investigate suspected policy violations, fraud, payment abuse, unsafe products, counterfeit activity, manipulation, security incidents, fulfillment failure, account sharing, or misuse of platform tools.

We may remove content, restrict features, cancel orders, issue refunds, hold funds, require additional verification, suspend accounts, terminate storefronts, or report activity to payment providers, logistics partners, regulators, or law enforcement.

We are not required to compensate users for losses caused by enforcement actions taken in good faith to protect buyers, sellers, the platform, partners, or the public.

9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The platform is provided on an as-is and as-available basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, error-free operation, universal payment acceptance, specific sales outcomes, delivery timelines, buyer demand, financing approval, or payout timing.

To the fullest extent allowed by law, sokko is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, punitive, lost profit, lost revenue, lost data, goodwill, or business interruption damages.

To the fullest extent allowed by law, our aggregate liability for platform claims is limited to the fees paid to sokko for the affected transaction or service during the three months before the claim arose.

10. Changes, governing terms, and contact

We may update these terms and related policies by posting the new version on the platform or notifying affected users. Continued use after an update means you accept the updated terms.

If a written agreement with sokko conflicts with these public terms, the written agreement controls only for the parties and scope it covers.
